2016 Trends

Now that 2015 is behind us we are looking toward 2016. Like every new year there is a new trend, new color, and new decorating ideas. Houzz published an article titled, “25 Design Trends Coming to Homes Near You in 2016.”We all wish every year we could just throw away all our old furniture, appliances and decorations, however, that is not really the most cost effective way to decorate. We pulled some of our favorites (easiest to do this year) tips from the Houzz article.

Statement mirrors in bathrooms. So long, medicine cabinets. Hello, statement mirrors. Think large wood-framed beauties, backlit modern marvels and ornate vintage gems that boost style in a bathroom.

With so much screen time throughout the day and night, homeowners are looking for a calm respite where they can read a book, chat with friends and family or just sit quietly. Thus, the rise of living rooms devoid of digital distraction. Custom framing your TV can turn that TV into a beautiful focal point instead of a digital distraction.

Fully decorated living rooms that don’t go overboard. How do you know when you haven’t decorated enough, or decorated too much? Designers pay attention to scale, light, function and more to strike the right balance. Groupings of custom framed pieces of art can be a beautiful focal point instead of a cluttered mess.

Fireplaces and fire features. New advances mean you can have all the ambience without the smell, pollution or hassle of traditional wood-burning fireplaces. Plus, fireplaces are making a comeback as living room focal points in lieu of the dark void of a TV screen. Cover that TV up with beautiful motorized canvas artwork.

Now that you have the ideas, here’s your guide to the colors of 2016:

2016 Colors

Spring 2016 is a transporting and transformative Canvas. The colors this season transcend cultural and gender norms. Vivid brights give way to excitement and optimism, though quiet stability prevails in this season’s palette.

A softer take on color for 2016: For the first time, the blending of two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity are chosen as the PANTONE Color of the Year. As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent.
